Retrofit Double Glazing
Snug in Winter. Cool in Summer.
Transform your home’s comfort with retrofit double glazing.
You don’t need to replace your existing windows to enjoy the benefits of double glazing. Whether your home has traditional timber windows or single-glazed aluminium joinery, Winstone Glass can retrofit double glazing into your existing frames.
It’s a practical, cost-effective way to make your home warmer, quieter and more comfortable, without the expense and disruption of replacing your entire windows.
Why double glaze with Winstone Glass?
Windows can be one of the biggest sources of heat loss in your home. Single glazing offers very little insulation, allowing warmth to escape in winter and unwanted heat to enter during summer.
Double glazing creates an insulating barrier between two panes of glass, helping to:
- Keep your home warmer in winter by reducing heat loss.
- Keep your home cooler in summer by limiting unwanted heat gain.
- Reduce outside noise for a quieter, more peaceful home.
- Improve energy efficiency and reduce the demand on your heating and cooling.
- Protect your interiors by helping to minimise fading caused by UV exposure.
With the right glass specification, double glazing can reduce heat loss through your windows by more than 70% compared with single glazing.
It’s an investment in the comfort, efficiency and long-term value of your home.
At Winstone Glass, we specialise in retrofitting double glazing into existing aluminium, timber and steel windows. Whether you have modern aluminium joinery, traditional timber frames or original steel windows in a character or heritage home, we can tailor a solution to suit your existing windows. There’s no need to replace your entire joinery – we work with what you already have, helping you improve your home’s warmth, comfort and energy efficiency while retaining its existing style and character. How does double glazing work?
Double glazing consists of two panes of glass separated by a sealed gap. This space is filled with air or insulating gas, such as Argon, creating a barrier that slows the transfer of heat between the inside and outside of your home.
The combination of two panes of glass and the insulating space between them significantly improves thermal performance compared with standard single glazing.
For even greater performance, we can incorporate Low-E (low emissivity) glass and Argon gas. These options help retain warmth inside during winter while reducing unwanted heat gain in summer.
You’d be surprised where your heat goes.
Even a well-insulated, modern home can lose a significant amount of warmth through single-glazed windows.
Upgrading to double glazing can make a noticeable difference to how your home feels. You’ll enjoy more consistent indoor temperatures, reduced draughts and outside noise, and potentially less reliance on heating and cooling.
It’s also a great way to enhance the comfort and appeal of your home without undertaking a major renovation.
